Description

Located at the foot of Mont Blanc, the historical resort of Chamonix is a genuine Alpine town. As the starting point for the first expeditions to climb Mont Blanc, it today organises the Kandahar, a famous stage in the Alpine World Cup. It never fails to impress lovers of spectacular scenery, and to delight guests seeking a lively resort offering a huge range of sporting and cultural activities.

An encounter with nature
The Aiguille du Midi (alt. 3,842m): the outstanding, unspoilt view includes the snowy peaks of the Mont Blanc range and the steep sides of the "aiguilles" or "needles" (accessible by cable car)
"Le Brévent" (alt. 2,526m): with a view across the French side of the Mont Blanc range, and over the Chamonix valley. The "Mer de Glace" glacier (minimum altitude of the glacier: 1,700m.): view from the upper part of the resort over the Montenvers peaks, a well-known site comprising the Mer de Glace glacier, and the amazing obelisk of Le Dru and La Verte. Anyone with a taste for the unusual will certainly enjoy a visit to the ice caves and the "crystal gallery"…

Heritage and Tradition :
The Alpine Museum, the Montenvers Alpine Fauna Museum, the Montenvers Hotel: built in 1880, this stone and larch wood hotel/restaurant is the highest in the valley and is part of the resort's heritage, the Devouassoud bell-making works: for 6 generations this company has kept alive a time-old ancestral tradition.
