Description
From atop the 2 Alpes glacier, the world looks completely different, with Mont-Blanc and the Aiguilles d’Arves on one side and La Meije on the other.
As an international winter sports resort, the 2 Alpes is a huge playground for mountain lovers, including Europe's largest skiable glacier and 220 km of ski slopes.
An encounter with nature
Try the high altitude walks on the glaciers (3,200-3,568 m) to enjoy the amazing view over the Alps, the Vercors and the Oisans ranges. Visit the "Grotte de Glace" (ice cave) dug out at 30 m under the glacier, illustrating the mountain trades of yesteryear. The "Croisière Blanche" trip: including a hike up to the Dôme de la Lauze (3,568 m) on Europe's biggest glacier. Discover the peaks and the Pied Moutet (2,100 m) to enjoy a view of the resort from up above, as well as the Vénéon and Romanche valleys.
Heritage and tradition
The "Maison de la Montagne" Natural Heritage Museum. Visits to traditional villages: Mont-de-Lans/2 Alpes 1300: the "greenhouse" trails, the hamlet of Les Bons with its peddler’s house and its chapel dating from 1893, the "Porte Romaine" (Roman Gate), etc. Venosc/Vénéon Valley (local crafts: traditional toys, wood turning, weaving, regional products), its narrow cobbled streets, its old chalets and fountains, its church and its church tower dating from the 14th century. The mountaineering museum.
