Resort Description
Lacanau, in the heart of the Médoc peninsula, is a resort that combines a vast Atlantic coast beach (over 14 km), a 2000-hectare lake and a ubiquitous pine forest. It is also in a prime geographical location and has a well-known microclimate.
Nestling between the pine trees of the Landes and long golden sand beaches, Lacanau pleasurably combines nature and sport and deserves its reputation as an invigorating resort.

The surrounding area
The Médoc vineyard trail : Pauillac (46 km), Saint Estèphe (55 km), Margaux des Graves (36 km), Saint Emilion (93 km) and Le Sauternais (96 km) being the most famous ones, plus the famous residences of Mauriac, Montaigne and Montesquieu.
Bordeaux (46 km) : the Grand Théâtre, the Girondins fountain-monument, the Saint André and Saint Pierre districts, the Rue Sainte Catherine (the largest pedestrianised street in Europe).
Saint-Émilion (93 km) : an old medieval town with its underground monuments (La Trinité chapel, Moine Emilion cave, the catacombs and the Monolithe church).
The Arcachon Basin (10 km away) is an incomparable site, a vast triangular indentation fringed with picturesque villages, oyster farms and houses on stilts.
The Dune du Pilat, the largest sand dune in Europe (114 metres high) with uninterrupted views of the entrance to the Basin and the pine forest.
