Resort Description
The seafront, Boulevard des Océanides: luxury hotels, modern buildings, the casino and thalassotherapy centres all line this elegant promenade stretching between Pornichet and Le Pouliguen.
La Baule les Pins: this resort in the middle of the woods extends La Baule eastward; the bridle path leads to Escoublac Forest.
The surrounding area
Le Pouliguen: closes La Baule Bay on the right and opens out on to the rocks of the wild coast and the harbour promenade, which goes to the lighthouse and grottoes.
Pornichet: combining greenery, cliffs, coves, beaches of fine sand and major pleasure-boating activity.
Guérande: a fortified medieval town surrounded by ramparts overlooking the entire "Pays Blanc" all the way to the sea, Saint-Aubin's collegiate church, the Porte Saint-Michel, museums and salt marshes stretching out over 1,800 ha divided into two basins (Mesquer and Guérande).
Saint Nazaire: on the Loire Estuary, visit one of the world's biggest shipyards (the Queen Mary 2 was built there), the eco-museum and its submarine, L’Espadon, which is still afloat, and L’Aérospatiale.
The Brière Regional Natural Park: it includes 18 villages on a surface area of 40,000 ha, 15,000 of which lie in wetlands, and offers a wealth of ecological, cultural and human wonders. Guided tours of the site: the village of Kérhinet, restored old thatch-roof cottages with interiors typical of the local area; the "Site de Rosé" (museum of the wetlands' wildlife and plants, animal park in a natural, protected, 25-ha setting); Maison de l’Eclusier – Animal Park – FédruN Island (connected to the Saint-Joachim road by two bridges), the Bride's House and the Brière thatch cottage, Ker Anas, the duck "village"; Crossac and Herbignac to see the megaliths, menhirs and dolmens more than 5,000 years old…
