Resort Description
Saint-Mandrier is a charming peninsula that closes off the natural harbour of Toulon. Its assets include its own microclimate, a bay with an attractive marina, and three wooded hills surrounding the port, which make an ideal spot for walking.
The little fishing port of Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer lies in the cove of Creux de Saint-Georges, and enjoys a panoramic view of Toulon and Cap Sicié.
Toulon: rising up behind its natural harbour, and surrounded by steep hills crowned with forts, Toulon is the second biggest naval military port in France.
Mont Faron: walk on the Marius Escartefigue corniche route and the slopes of Mont Faron, which has wonderful views of Toulon and the surrounding area.
The old town: the Naval Museum, Quai Stalingrad, church of St Francis of Paule church, St Mary's cathedral, Cours Lafayette, Museum of old Toulon, Fountain of the three dolphins and the Rue d’Alger.
The port: sailing ships, yachts and warships provide an ever-fascinating spectacle in this busy port.
The Place d'Armes, church of St Louis, Place de la Liberté, the Toulon museum and art museum, gardens of Alexander I, and not far from Toulon, the memorial museum commemorating the Allied landings in Provence, and the zoo.
Boat trips: there are landing stages all along the Quai Stalingrad, from where you can take trips around the small harbour and the outer one.
