Val Thorens is the highest resort in Europe, sitting above the Valee de Belleville. The valley is linked to the famous Trois Vallees area and there are lift passes to cover the whole area. That is 600 km of pistes with 30 black, 108 red, 129 blue and 51 green runs - passes for the resort are cheaper but still provide 150 km of runs. Skiing in Val is spectacular: the resort is at the centre of a natural amphitheatre, surrounded by glaciers. The Aiguille de Peclet peak is the highest point, with a glacier that is open for skiing all year. The resort altitude means that even late in the season both lower and upper slopes will usually be open, giving you great value for your late-season ski pass. Val Thorens is a purpose-built resort with plenty of facilities and some high-quality ski-in, ski-out accommodation. There is an alternative to skiing while in Val Thorens: you can enjoy the swimming pool and fitness centre, have a game of tennis, football or volleyball, or take the kids to the fun park and soft-play area. The resort attracts a lively, friendly crowd, and has some great apres-ski for those who want it, both on and off the mountain. Staying in Val Thorens self-catering holiday apartments is just as much fun in summer as it is in winter. As the snow thaws, melt-water collects in the valley lakes, and the Alpine meadows open up to walkers and mountain bikers. We have four holiday residences in Val Thorens. The four-star Le Machu Pichu residence has luxury one-bedroom apartments for up to six people. Also four-star, Le Tikal residence has well-equipped apartments for up to eight people, close to the resort centre. The two-star Le Gypaete residence has good-value apartments with balconies in the hamlet of Le Peclet, near the main resort centre. In winter, Val Thorens holidays give you snow-sure skiing over a huge ski area. In summer, they give you a choice of outdoor activities in a stunning setting. If you love the mountains, then you will love Val Thorens.
